Equilibrium- The Equilibrium is the position of a medium that is natural, there is no force going into a medium in it's Equilibrium position. The Equilibrium is a naturally assumed position.Period- The time (seconds) it takes for one complete cycle (wavelength) to be completed. This applies to all Mechanical Waves.Frequency- This stands for the amount of cycles that pass in one second, the symbol for frequency is f, and the unit for it is hertz.Crest- The Crest is the highest point of a transverse wave in one complete period.Trough- The Trough is the lowest point of a transverse wave in one complete period.Amplitude- Is the Measurement of the distance between the Equilibrium and the Crest/Trough, only Applies to Transverse waves.

Rarefaction- Rarefaction is part of a Longitudinal wave. The Rarefaction is the part of the wave when the pressure is low, and particles are furthest apart
Compression- Compression is part of a Longitudinal Wave. The Compression is the part of the Wave when the pressure is high, and the particles are packed tightly together.

The Equation for Waves
The equation for waves is Wave speed/Velocity= Freq. x I. These are all linked, if one changes, they all change. This equation is similar to the equation for speed. The wave equation can be used to discover the Velocity, Frequency or Wavelength (I) The wave equation can be applied to everyday life, for example, finding out the speed or size of a tsunami.

The Relationship Between Waves and Energy
